Right when Paisley turned six months she was off. She started crawling everywhere and I forgot how much I struggle with this stage because baby proofing is so hard when they are crawling. The thing that is the hardest is that no matter how many times I clean the floor she seems to always find something to get in her mouth and with a three year old constantly leaving things on the ground this makes it much harder. So I try to keep her pacifier in her mouth while she is on the floor so she won't put anything in her mouth and yesterday we were doing pretty good until I walked into the kitchen to do the dishes, she was just sitting on the floor outside the kitchen and I noticed she was struggling to breath. I went over to see if I could see anything in her mouth but it had already made its way down her throat at first she coughed a couple of time but then she wasn't breathing or making any noise so I proceeded to turn her over on my arm and hit her on the back. At this point what to do next was going through my mind. I didn't know what I was going to do if I couldn't get this out of her throat and I had no clue what she had swallowed then finally after about a minute or so of hitting her on the back she gags and then starts crying. I couldn't have been more relieved at the sound of her crying. It was the best noise I could have heard at that moment. I don't know if she ended up swallowing what she had in her mouth or what happened to it because I never found it but I am just grateful that she is okay and I couldn't help but hug her as tight as I could. It is moments like these as scary and as horrible as they are that make me realize how blessed I am to be a mother to these precious children that Heavenly Father has sent me.

That happened to me also...with London...it was so long without him breathing and choaking that I had to eventually call 911 because I couldnt get it out and the ambulance and fire truck came. He was changing colors and getting limp...it was terrifing. He was about 5 months. It was a candy wrapper that had balloned up in his throat. Glad she is okay!!!
Oh my gosh- how scary. Seriously it makes you panic just thinking about something like that. Thank goodness she is okay.
Yikes! Did you ever discover what it was that she swallowed? Scary! Hey I was thinking the other day about our drive to Arizona for Thanksgiving. I am dreading the 12 hours to Mesa with Tanner - he is just not a sit and chill kind of kid. Is there any way we could crash on your floor next Friday night the 20th on our way down? Tan has a pack and play and Eli and I really can just sleep on the floor - we've done that many times. We'd probably get there later in the evening around 8 or 9. But I would love to chat with you since I haven't in a while! I totally understand if it's an inconvenience - it was just an idea that would be fun because I would get to see you! You can email me at saramorey13@gmail.com. Thanks Shan!
